He/Him
Chris Sanders (he/him/his) is a NYC based voice teacher. He most recently has worked on the voice faculty for Texas State University’s Musical Theatre BFA program and also NYU Steinhardt. He received his masters degree in Vocal Performance for Musical Theater and Advanced Certification in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU Steinhardt and his BFA in Musical Theater from The University of West Florida. International studies include The Performing Arts Institute in Munich, Germany and the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. He is currently working on his Vocology Certification through NYU, studying vocal rehabilitation for singers recovering from vocal injury. Current clients can be seen working on various national/international tours such as Beetlejuice, Disney and Royal Carribean Cruise Lines, and at regional theaters such as The Muny, PCLO, Goodspeed, MTWichita, and more. As a vocal technician Chris prioritizes helping his students create a solid balance of both vocal efficiency as well as authenticity. After years of struggling early on as a vocalist himself while in school, he strives to make sure his students develop a strong understanding of their own instrument so that they feel empowered to create lasting positive change both technically and neurologically when they approach singing. He has been published twice by VOICEPrints Journal, and is a member of Actors Equity Association (AEA) as well as the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
